About us: Manabell was founded in 2010 by Brigita Botma (formerly Bell).
Tēnā Koe, I’m Brigita Botma. A homeschooled artist and illustrator from Northland.
One of 10 siblings of Samoan descent, I now live in Auckland.
Art has been about expressing myself and connecting with the world around me, it has helped me integrate into society beyond the struggles of a socially isolated upbringing.
I’ve been fortunate enough to turn my passion into a successful career. I’m the illustrator for the successful children’s book series TR & Mack, written by Mike King (I AM Hope) which has 30,000 copies in circulation.
In both 2020 and 2023, I was also honored to receive the title of Resene’s ‘Best Professional Mural Artist’, which was a huge achievement for me.
My art is an expression of who I am, and I believe that it’s important to share that with the world. Whether it’s through a children’s book or a mural, my goal is to connect with people and create something that brings joy to our lives.
Originally, Manabell was nothing more then a creative outlet for my 13 year-old self. It started as an idea in my head. But has now developed into something much bigger.
Thus, Manabell grew from a girl’s dream, to the design and creation business it is now.
I started in Dargaville and now reside in the area about Auckland/Waikato NZ following 2014.
Manabell takes great pride in Quality and Community. 100% ethics and effort goes into every project. With the goal of delivering full satisfaction to each individual client.
With over 80 murals under my belt and all different kinds of creative commissions: I am a seasoned artist/designer aswell as a in-school art mentor.
I have worked on miniatures and massive artworks. Illustrated a variety of children’s books across Australasia and worked in large-scale beautification projects.
So, whether you’re wanting a portrait of your dog, or a 30-foot dragon across your man cave, I can help.

Firstly, our priority is beautification and environment. It is clear that this is an important issue here in NZ. We’re excited to be supporting this. So, we are continually working on new projects to solve these problems.
Along with this is a drive to involve the community in our efforts. If you have any ideas for collaboration or know of areas that need TLC, please get in touch. We are out and about painting in the community most days and absolutely encourage you to come and get motivated with us.
Also, as an experienced mentor, I have had the privilege of collaborating with local Iwi in incorporating their rich history and Tikanga into some of our recent projects. This approach ensures that the educational process is as meaningful as possible for locals.
I’ve also worked in both government and community programs including the Creatives In School Initiative.
